The electrical converters are a type of device.
A typical electrical generator will have two main functions: converting between AC and DC current, transforming the voltage level. For example, a converter used in a solar power plant will convert the DC generated by solar cells to AC. At the same time it will also rise the voltage from 36V to 240V.
But there may also have the device instances that only do one of the two functions. For example one does not convert the current type, but only lower the voltage level from 1KV to 380V.
All devices of the above kind would all be classified as a electrical generator.
