Cougar Kingaroy Power Project

From MoxyWiki

Cougar Energy Limited is developing commercial projects using coal as feedstock and underground coal gasification (UCG) to produce syngas for electricity generation.

The Kingaroy Power Project will use syngas produced by UCG to generate electricity at a 400MW power station and will have a project life of 30 years.

In September 2009 construction of the Stage 1 (200MW) preproduction plant was commenced by Cougar Energy at Kingaroy in Queensland, coordinates -26.5406° 151.836117°Latitude: 26°32′26.16″S
Longitude: 151°50′10.021″E
.

Successful ignition of the coal seam was achieved in March 2010[1]. Production has been temporarily interrupted by a well casing blockage - it is expected production will re-commence in 4-6 weeks[2]
