Felton Clean Coal Project
From MoxyWiki
Project Description
Ambre Energy Limited plans to build and operate an open-cut coal mine and a coal to liquids processing plant at Felton, in the Darling Downs region of Queensland, Australia. An environmental impact assessment is being prepared, which details the initial demonstration stage of the mine, the Dimethyl Ether DME plant, which will be powered by a coal gasification plant, also part of the project.
The Felton demonstration plant will use coal gasification, one of the two coal to liquids processes Ambre has developed for application to low quality coal[1]. The demonstration project will produce 2000 tonnes coal per day, 645000 litres per day of Dimethyl ether (DME) and 51MW of electricity. [2].
At first stage commercial operation, estimated to be in 2020, it is planned to process 3.8 million tonnes (Mt) of coal per year, with production of 0.9 million tonnes of DME (1373 ML/yinfo.png'1373 ML/y'

As at February 2009, work continues on the Environmental Impact Study for the Felton Project, with production to begin in 2012.
