In February 2010 partners Petrobras, Toyo Engineering, Velocys (subsidiary of Oxford Catalysts) and Modec signed a joint demonstration and testing agreement to construct and operate an integrated Gas to Liquids Technology demonstration plant based on the their technologies at the current Petrobras facility at Fortaleza in Brazil, coordinates -3.625127° -38.579178°Latitude: 3°37′30.457″S
Longitude: 38°34′45.041″W. Natural gas will be used to produce transportation fuels.

The microchannel technology of Velocys will be used in the demonstration project, which will operate for nine months from early 2011, with subsequent commercial deployment likely on an FPSO (floating, production, storage and offloading) facility.
