Port of Prescott

The Corporation of the Township of Edwardsburgh Cardinal[1] in the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville in Ontario owns and operates the Port of Prescott.


The Port of Prescott

The Port:

  1. is located on the Great Lakes St Lawrence Seaway (the shipping route to Europe from eastern Canada)
  2. shipped and received 655683 tonnes of dry bulk cargo including salt, grain, aggregate, slag and fertiliser in 2008
  3. four marine dock, two landside
  4. a grain elevator.
  5. There is storage capacity for 154000 tonnes[2]


Key transport infrastructure for the port include:

  1. A spur rail line connects the port with the Canadian National Railway freight and passenger service.
  2. Within two kilometres of the port are:
    • Highway 416, linking to Ottawa
    • Highway 401, linking Montreal and Toronto
  3. The nearby Prescott - Ogdensburg Bridge links to the United States of America.
  4. the Port is 90 km south of the Ottawa International Airport via Highway 416
