Simple gestures, emergent pressure

Kami asked players to paint the map in their colour. Dragging a unit drew the path it would follow; every move claimed territory and reshaped the contest.

Territory was both score and life support. Control more space and a unit grew until it produced another unit. Enemy stones could be defeated by cutting them off from their territory or surrounding them completely.

01

02

Claim territory

03

Grow and multiply

Territory feeds units until they are large enough to create a new piece.

04

Starve or surround

Break an opponent’s connection to its land or encircle it outright.
