Live collaboration
Multiple players could gather around the same virtual puzzle in real time.
2012–2013 · Real-time social puzzle
The old-fashioned jigsaw puzzle made social and musical, then rebuilt as a shared table in the browser.
The idea
World’s Biggest Jigsaw turned a familiar solitary puzzle into a collaborative, real-time experience. Players could work on the same 144-piece album cover together while music remained part of the scene.
Rather than using a flat utility interface, the game built a physical place: scattered pieces, a box lid, magnifying glass, minimap, coffee cup and record-player controls made the browser feel like a lived-in puzzle table.
What shaped it
Multiple players could gather around the same virtual puzzle in real time.
Pieces, tools and navigation were grounded in a familiar tabletop scene.
Album artwork and music discovery gave every puzzle its identity.
HTML5 and CSS3 on the client spoke to a Node.js backend.
